[ History ]

A Homunculus is created when an alchemist tries to bring a previously deceased loved one back from the dead, an artificial human with only the image of the person they once were. When the real Alphonse Elric sacrificed his armour body and soul to bring back his older brother from the dead, with the power of the Philosopher's stone embedded into his body, the new Homunculus Sloth was created when Edward Elric bought his brother 's now reunited body and soul back from the Gate in response. It would be the first documented occurrence of a Homunculus and their human counterpart existing in the same time period, a rarity and only possible given the unique circumstances.

Despite it being said that Homunculi harbour no real feelings to any about them, Sloth shared the deep affection that Alphonse held for his older brother, and when he was able, sought out his own Homunculi counterpart. Sloth ended up aiding the actual Edward Elric in order to save his Homunculus, Pride, whom he later renamed him Edo to show he held more humanity than what his original name would suggest. In turn, the Homunculus 'Anu' renamed Sloth 'Aru', wanting to show that he had humanity as well. They became closer than before, and since then were rarely apart from one another if they could help it. A series of events led to Aru getting a job in a day care centre, something he is surprisingly adept at, even with his somewhat stoic nature. It seems he also shared his human counterparts nurturing nature on some level

[ Pets ]

Animals are wary about Homunculi, able to sense they are not what they appear to be, and so Aru does not own any pets.

Aru's abilities are the same as the previous Sloth, he is able to turn his entire body to water. When he is weak, it is harder for him to hold his 'solid' form, and he will occasionally crash into his liquid form. As a Homunculus, he is naturally stronger than the average human, but he is very weak for a Homunculus, something that he makes up for in speed and agility with his unnaturally light form. Aru can't do alchemy, as he holds no soul, and is very susceptible to it. As a rule, Homunculi are weakened, to the point of being frozen, when around the remains of the person they were created from. Given his 'remains' are still alive, Aru avoids that for the most part, though if he is in close proximity with Alphonse Elric, he feels highly uncomfortable, weak, and will often revert to his water form.
